CAPE TOWN - A team of engineers travelling from Kenya to South Africa by electric bike, has reached the halfway mark of their 6,000-kilometre-long journey.
The partnership between Nairobi-based electric mobility company Roam and Stellenbosch University hopes to prove that the battery-powered motorcycles can travel from Nairobi to Stellenbosch using only solar power as an energy source.
A key focus is to put the Roam Air motorcycle through its paces and also to test the efficacy of the bike’s battery.
The team is expected to arrive in Stellenbosch next week.
