Today marks World Chocolate Day, celebrating the 4-thousand-year history of the cacao plant. The industry generates trillions globally, but the farmers who grow it, often live in abject poverty.

This year's harvest left a bitter taste in the mouth. Climate change impacted production as lower crop yields drove prices up.
