Colchester residents cry foul over beach cover charge

COLCHESTER - There are hardly any private beaches in South Africa, and there is legislation to ensure everyone has full access.

But residents of Colchester in the Eastern Cape are up in arms over restricted access to their local beach.

A farming family from Pearson has fenced off the entire beach area and installed an access gate.

Visitors must now fork out an entrance fee of R60 per person.
