CAPE TOWN - It may be the oldest ballet company in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of the oldest in the world, but even it hasn't escaped tough economic times.
The Cape Town City Ballet will mark its 90th-year anniversary this month, with a string of performances at the Artscape.
This includes the inaugural Centre Stage, a performance this weekend, that includes elements of classical ballet, jazz, African contemporary and gumboot dancing.
It also doubles as a fundraiser, as the company looks for ways to continue dancing into the future.
