JOHANNESBURG - Nearly 8 million people in South Africa live with HIV.

Friday marks World Aids Day, and the United Nations is urging governments across the world, to harness the power of grassroots communities to lead the fight against the pandemic.

South Africa remains the world's leading country with the highest number of people contracting and living with HIV.
