CAPE TOWN - There will be no fireworks in Cape Town to usher in the new year. That's after the V&A Waterfront canceled its extravagant display following threats of court action by the SPCA and other animal welfare organisations.
The city of Cape Town and the SAPS had initially granted a permit for both the festivities and fireworks before protests were held.
