JOHANNESBURG - Only 6% of Alexandra residents pay for electricity.
This is a figure revealed by electricity supplier City Power.
Spokesperson Isaac Mangena says incidents of cable theft and illegal connections are rife in the township, often leaving communities without power for days on end.
Residents say with the arrival of Winter, they have no choice but to connect illegally to keep warm.
