JOHANNESBURG - A Limpopo honey farmer is stuck without a paddle after thieves destroyed 200 beehives and stole around R400,000 worth of honey.
According to Werner Maree, General Manager at Magalies Bees, the sticky-fingered thieves took R2,000 worth of honey per hive.
The impact goes beyond the financial loss, as some of the bees were killed during the theft.

These bees are not only vital for honey production but are also used to pollinate crops across the country.
The damage could have lasting effects on food production and farming in the region.
There are claims that the thieves may be part of a syndicate operating in both Limpopo and the North West province.
A case has been opened, and police are asking members of the public to come forward with any information.
