LONDON - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Well, at least in the British town of Blackpool.
The coastal resort pulls out all the stops to display a million LED lamps to light up the seafront.
This year is especially special as the pandemic, war in Ukraine and rampant inflation put a dent in the initial planning.
The lights will be displayed until 2 January 2023.
The town council says the lights are an integral part of its tourism offering and have been around since 1912.
It attracts around three-and-a-half-million visitors a year.
But, the council will have to brace for a massive electricity bill next year.
Energy bills in the UK have doubled and even tripled in the last year.
