Practice ubuntu to commemorate Madiba: Ndileka Mandela

MTHATHA - Nelson Mandela's grand-daughter, Ndileka Mandela, was in Mthatha where President Cyril Ramaphosa will be unveiling one of the two statues commemorating the legacy of former president Nelson Mandela.

She said, "yesterday [Monday], I was asked, what would be the one thing that South Africans do to commemorate Madiba?"

"I would say it is to practice ubuntu, because it cuts across all pillars like poverty, unemployment and crime. Because if you share with your neighbour that addresses poverty."

"If you see a person being attacked a reach out a hand that addresses crime. If you’re an entrepreneur and you teach people to be self-sufficient that addresses unemployment… you cannot just give people fish give them fishing rods, yes, the grants are helpful but aren’t sustainable, you need to teach people how to fish.”
