Icy weather hits parts of SA

CAPE TOWN - Another cold front has slammed into the Western Cape, bringing with it wet, cold and windy conditions.

It's expected to move over the country and Gauteng will begin to feel the effects of the big chill from Saturday afternoon.

The South African Weather Services has issued multiple warnings for the country, including damaging winds for the Eastern Cape, and widespread and disruptive snowfalls for parts of the country.

At the same time, varying stages of load-shedding have kicked in.

Johannesburg City Power says it's on high alert in anticipation of the inclement weather conditions.

It encouraged residents to use other sources of energy to reduce strain on the network and keep the lights on.
