HARARE - Former Zimbabwean Finance Minister Tendai Biti says the newly-launched currency will be rejected by Zimbabweans because they have no confidence in it.
It's the latest attempt by the Zimbabwe government to rein runaway hyperinflation and stabilise the battered economy.
But Biti is not convinced by the gold-backed ZiG currency, calling it a waste of time.
The central bank says it will officially launch the new notes on 30 April.
The widespread scepticism around the ZiG currency, has prompted Zimbabwe's Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube to plead for patience.
