JOHANNESBURG - Woolworths says its decision to recall smoked chicken viennas is a preemptive step to prevent adverse reactions among shoppers with allergies to cow's milk.
The retailer announced the move after detecting a cross-contamination fault of milk protein between plain chicken as well as its chicken and cheese viennas.
The house-brand products reach their expiration date on the 27th of May and can be found in South Africa and Botswana.
Woolworths prides itself on exceptionally high standards, and we go to great lengths, with very strict protocols within a rigorous food safety management process, to ensure all food we produce, package and sell is the quality our customers expect.
