JOHANNESBURG - The SA Municipal Workers’ Union has welcomed a Labour Court decision to hear an application by the City of Tshwane on its dispute over salary hikes.

The City filed a review application for decisions ordering it to implement wage agreements reached 2021 and 2023. That application will be heard on 28 November.

Municipal workers were due for a 3.5-percent salary hike in 2021 and 5.4-percent increase in 2023. The City of Tshwane delayed this implementation by applying for exemptions at the SA Local Government Bargaining Council.

SAMWU deputy general secretary Nkhetheni Muthavhi spoke to eNCA.
