WATCH | Historic Carlton Centre goes under the hammer

JOHANNESBURG - For some 50 years, the Carlton Centre has towered over Johannesburg but now, Africa’s fourth tallest building is looking for a new owner.

What was once a hallmark of the city skyline, it’s recently fallen victim to rising crime and urban decay.

This has forced Transnet – who owns the building – to cut its losses and sell.
