JOHANNESBURG - South Africa has avoided a technical recession, despite agriculture GDP plunging in the second half of 2023.
Despite the massive challenges, the economy expanded by 0.6% in 2023.

While six other sectors posted growth, the agriculture sector was quite the opposite.

The outlook turned negative following a relatively good start to the 2023/24 crop season.
