JOHANNESBURG - Eskom's proposed electricity tariff hike will devastate the country's fragile economy even further.
The embattled utility is trying to hike prices by a staggering 38%.
Professor Mark Swilling from the National Planning Commission says the hike is a result of Eskom’s failure to acquire enough diesel to keep generators on.
Swilling says it may be once again up to the public to bail Eskom out of its financial difficulties.
