JOHANNESBURG - Workers from the Tshwane Municipality have taken to the streets, demanding salary increments.
Municipal worker union, Samwu is demanding increases of between 3.5 percent and 5.4 percent.
The mayor's office says it cannot afford the salary hikes and has approached the bargaining council for an exemption this financial year.
Samwu is also unhappy with the performance management systems, the metro police grading system and contracts awarded by the city.
