JOHANNESBURG - National Treasury says allegations of impropriety against former Director-General Dondo Mogajane have never been proven or tested in any court of law.
Former VBS Mutual Bank Chairperson, Tshifhiwa Matodzi claims Mogajane was paid a R1 million bribe.
According to an affidavit, Matodzi asserts that Mogajane allowed VBS to continue taking deposits from municipalities in exchange for a bribe.
However, the former DG has denied this.
Treasury says it welcomes the 15-year sentence meted out to Matodzi and took numerous steps to end unlawful investments made by municipalities into VBS Mutual Bank in 2016.
