JOHANNESBURG - Transnet Freight Rail has reported an improvement in rail volumes in the last quarter of 2023.
The company attributes the improvements to its implementation of the Transnet Recovery Plan.
The quarterly performance rate of delivery to the Richards Bay Coal Terminal increased from over 47 million tons in the third quarter to almost 50 million tons in the fourth quarter.
The North Corridor handles an estimated 41 percent of all of Transnet Freight Rail's volumes.
The lack of security, locomotive availability & reliability have crippled performance on this corridor in the last few years but partnerships with different sectors are assisting with the challenges.
