EAST LONDON - The Transnet National Ports Authority board says it will issue disciplinary charges against Chief Executive Pepi Silinga.
He's currently on a leave of absence.
Silinga has been implicated in alleged tender irregularities. A port-fencing upgrade at Durban, Richards Bay, and Saldanha Bay reportedly ballooned from R80 million to R300 million.
The Ports Authority appointed Bowmans Attorneys to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, the state-owned enterprise has also issued disciplinary charges against managers implicated in the Fundudzi report. These relate to the awarding of a tender for the multi-purpose terminal at the Port of Ngqura near Gqeberha.
Maritime Business Chamber Executive Chairperson, Unathi Soni had a discussion with the eNCA on this topic.
