Sweet tooth still strong despite soaring chocolate price

JOHANNESBURG - It’s been a challenging year for chocolate lovers, with cocoa prices soaring.

Over the past few years, chocolate prices have surged around the world.

This spike can be largely attributed to poor harvests in key cocoa-producing nations in West Africa, particularly the Ivory Coast and Ghana which together account for 70 percent of the world’s cocoa supply.

According to Robin Lesch, Head of Marketing at Nestlé, this situation has led some consumers to seek out more affordable snack options.
