JOHANNESBURG - Sugar tax is leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of some.
Among them is the SA Sugar Association.
It's appealing to the Finance Minister to freeze the tax at current levels for another five years.
The plea comes as health activists call for the current tax of 11 percent to be doubled.
At current levels, SARS collects around R2.2-billion from the tax.
Priya Seetal from the Sugar Association said the more sugar in your beverage, the more tax you are going to pay to consume that product.
