JOHANNESBURG - Small-scale sugarcane growers are celebrating after being paid by Tongaat Hulett.
The sugar producer failed to pay around R400 million for sugar cane deliveries in September.
Payment to commercial growers is still outstanding.
Andrew Russell from the SA Canegrowers association tells eNCA that business rescue practitioners are prioritizing the payment of growers.
"The business rescue practitioners have been open and welcoming of our support and assistance," he said.
"We have engaged with them during the course of last week and those engagements were both positive and constructive."
