JOHANNESBURG - Erratic power cuts will continue to undermine the manufacturing sector's potential to create much-needed jobs.
That's the view of economists following the release of figures which showed manufacturing fell 1.1 percent in November from a year earlier.
Manufacturing is South Africa's fourth-largest sector, contributing 14 percent to the country's GDP.
Employment data shows that the manufacturing sector has lost 400,000 jobs since 2008.
One economist says power cuts are eating into the sector.
