JOHANNESBURG - SARS has imposed penalties on nearly 700 000 taxpayers for outstanding returns this year.
Most of these taxpayers have been penalised for having just one return outstanding.

Before an amendment to the Tax Administration Act in December 2022, penalties were only imposed on taxpayers with more than one tax return outstanding.
The fines range between R 250-R16 000 - depending on your taxable income.
