SA Post Office warns customers of parcel scam

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Post Office business rescue practitioners are warning customers to be vigilant as they have been getting reports of an increase in scams from fraudsters claiming to represent it.

Consumers have been getting emails and SMS messages  that indicate that certain goods cannot be delivered because of incorrect addresses on the parcel.

They are then asked to update the delivery address within 24hours by clicking a fraudulent link or risk having the parcel returned.

SAPO says clicking on the link leads the user to a payment page where they are asked to deposit money into an account to release a package.

In some instances, a form is included requesting the bank card number and the CVV number on the back resulting in large scale banking fraud.
