Moeshfieka Botha, a consumer expert from Credit Matters said, "one thing we have to acknowledge is that South African consumers are stretched and you looking at a huge increase in the price of petrol. Looking at paying R22 per liter and that's a lot more than we been paying."

"R250 more per month, if you have two vehicles R500 more per month. Once fuel costs increase it is carried over into everything else that we consume because it has the ripple effect and South Africans are really going to have tO start cutting down because we also have to remember that on the first of April the Eskom increase also comes into effect."
