JOHANNESBURG - The rand -- together with other currencies -- continues to fall against a strengthening US dollar.
It is hovering around R18.25 against the dollar.
The weakening local currency is now at a three-month low and is making the fight against high inflation harder.
While exporters benefit from a weaker rand, imports will become more expensive.
The rand's weakness is largely due to the dollar gaining as investors bet on a longer spell of higher interest rates in the US.
