Workers want profits steered to them

PRETORIA - Car manufacturer Ford has filed an urgent application with the Johannesburg Labor Court to end the Numsa strike.

Thousands of employees at the plant in Silverton, Pretoria are protesting over bonuses and profit share. Work came to a halt earlier this month when the union and the company were unable to reach an agreement.

The manufacturer says the strike action has affected production and will impact the country’s economy and global reputation.
