Outa slams Eskom partial PFMA exemption

JOHANNESBURG - Outa CEO Wayne Duvenage says the decision to exempt the power utility from disclosing irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure in its financials sets a dangerous precedent.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has exempted the power utility from disclosing irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure in its financials.

This exemption however doesn't comply with the Public Finance Management Act.

The decision has also drawn mixed reaction from South Africans.

Eskom is battling rolling blackouts.
