JOHANNESBURG - For some, online shopping has become the new norm.
It also offers new opportunities for cyber criminals to exploit.
Riyadh Mahomed, Standard Bank's head of Fraud Awareness and Complaints Management, said fraudsters are becoming more sophisticated and our information needs to be protected.
"This type of fraud is on the increase," he said.
"The majority of the cases that we deal with today are due to customers having compromised their details."
He urged the public to refrain from clicking on links and ads as these are some of the tactics used by scammers to compromise information.
