JOHANNESBURG - The number of wage strikes has risen sharply this year according to the latest Reserve Bank Quarterly Bulletin.

It says there were 1.6-million work days lost in the first half of the year compared to 45,000 lost during the same period last year.
The bank told News24 that the figure is calculated by multiplying the number of employees on strike with the days they were absent from work.
Analysts have flagged that the increasing strike action will deter investment.
