New vehicle sales up by 14%

JOHANNESBURG - People are struggling in these tough financial times but they are still buying new cars.

New vehicle sales increased by double digits in June.

The sector saw a year-on-year increase of 14%.

The Automotive Business Council says affordability seems to be driving new vehicle sales.

Export sales however dropped by over 12.5%.

The council says this is due to the devastating KZN floods and it's impact on vehicle production and exports.
