Mining production | Sector struggles to dig itself out of trouble

JOHANNESBURG - The mining sector is struggling to dig itself out of the current downturn.

The latest data from StatsSA shows that production decreased by 3.3-percent year-on-year in January 2024 and the largest negative contributor to the drop was manganese, gold and diamond production.

But overall mineral sales did go up in the period.
