JOHANNESBURG - A properly functioning rail network will save the mining industry.
That is according to stakeholders in the freight industry who are calling for rail reform.
They say the sector is being threatened due to Transnet's continued deterioration.
"It's part of the supply chain, it's part of the blood of the country, it's part of the economy and without it the country dies," said Mesela Nhlapo, CEO of the RailRoad Association.
"We need to take decisive action as soon as possible."
Nhlapo says the Transnet strike affected logistics in the country badly.
