JOHANNESBURG - Car maker association, NAAMSA, says current logistic problems are the single biggest risk for the sector.
Naamsa is concerned about backlogs at the ports and the collapsing freight rail network. It says this will have a domino effect on the sustainability of the industry. According to the latest figures, new vehicle sales dropped by more than 10 percent year on year in November. This is the fourth consecutive monthly decline.
They blame this on the return of the Stage 6 power cuts and supply chain disruptions at Transnet.
