JOHANNESBURG - Low-cost airline, Mango, might again take to skies in the coming months.
READ: Mango Airlines | Business rescue practitioners head to court
Mango's business rescue practitioner, Sipho Sono says the airline can proceed with the sale to an unknown investor. Mango has been in business rescue since July 2021.
However, there is still a dispute with Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan on the planned sale.
Gordhan has demanded more information on the investor in terms of a business plan.
But Sono only gave information about the transaction as he argues that the new Mango would be in competition with South African Airways.
There has been a back and forth with court cases, but in the latest event, Gordhan did not timeously petition for leave to appeal.
So Sono argues, the high court judgment from September 2023 stands, and the sale can go ahead.
