JOHANNESBURG - Homegrown technology to curb cable theft is growing by the day according to Cable-DNA’s Mitch Mitchell.
He says their technology makes it difficult for thieves to operate in copper cable underworld.
Mitchell said, “ours is a local technology developed in South Africa."
"What we do…we use micro-dots like the police are using at the moment to identify vehicles, to identify copper cables."
"This makes copper very difficult to sell because the thieves know that they’re going to be prosecuted."
"Scrap yards will say we don’t wanna buy it because we can go to jail."
"This could drastically change the cable theft situation in South Africa.”“
