JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Liquor Traders Association is calling for the rejection of the Tobacco Bill.

It says the bill is unworkable in the township economy, will cause great harm to small business, and that affected parties have not been properly consulted.

The comments come after Parliament’s recent public hearings in Gauteng.

The association says it was disappointed that the hearings were set for month end, which is the busiest time for tavern owners and operators.
The association represents over 35,000 liquor traders in the province.

Jongikhaya Kraai, spokesperson for Gauteng Liquor Forum, discussed the situation with eNCA.
