Jobs emergency | Decline in domestic worker jobs

JOHANNESBURG - The Domestic Service and Allied Workers Union Assistance says workers have every right to take their employers to the CCMA should they find themselves being pushed out of a job for any unfair reasons.

Stats SA figures show that there's a decline in domestic worker jobs.

There were tens of thousands of domestic workers without jobs in the third quarter of the year.

The union says it's been inundated with calls from housekeepers who've been retrenched.

The union's Pinky Mashiane says an employee's country of origin should also have no impact on how they’re treated by employers.
