JOHANNESBURG - The government is to help farmers invest in alternative energy sources.
Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Minister, Thoko Didiza has announced an Agro-Energy Fund to the tune of R2,5-billion.
The Agriculture Department Director-General Mooketsa Ramasodi said, "The Agro energy fund has three categories, and one of those categories is farmers will qualify for a 30-percent grant from government .... and the land bank supplying the entire 70-percent."
"We are looking at farmers who have the greatest impact in terms of food security in our country."
