Government commits to turning SA into global automative hub

CAPE TOWN - The government says despite bracing several headwinds, the country’s automotive sector remains a key contributor to the economy. 

Delivering the keynote address at the South African Automotive Week in Cape Town, President Cyril Ramaphosa says the sector contributes 5,3% to the country’s gross domestic product.

The Automotive Business Council, Naamsa, says R1,75 trillion worth of export revenue was generated between 1995 and last year.
