BEIJING - The Minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan, is leading a delegation to China, to resolve the current rail crisis.
The delegation will meet its counterparts in the Chinese government to talk about the delivery of locomotives and spare parts by rail equipment manufacturer CRRC E-Loco.

Transnet halted the supply of over a thousand locomotives from the Chinese state-owned rail equipment supplier after claiming contracts worth over R54-billion rand had been awarded irregularly in 2014.
But now, their current locomotives are in urgent need of maintenance by the supplier.
In March this year, President Cyril Ramaphosa, called for a meeting, amid the effects of the rail crisis on the South African economy.
