Gautrain to use renewable energy in the future

JOHANNESBURG - One of the key changes to coming to the Gautrain will be the use of renewable energy.

That is according to Gautrain CEO, William Dachs.

A new partner for the train service was recently agreed to by the Gauteng Executive Council.

"The concession agreement which we currently got was to build the Gautrain system. It achieved all its objects," he said.

"But there is still so much more that we can do. A small example will be the world has changed in terms of energy reliance.

So, one of the things we have to build is much more use of renewable energy sources."
