Fuel prices expected to increase in February

JOHANNESBURG - Unaudited fuel data from the Central Energy Fund points to possible increases in prices of all grades of fuel in February, except for illuminating paraffin.

The Automobile Association says consumers can expect a slight increase of around an 11 to 14 cents per litre in 93 and 95 unleaded petrol.

Diesel is expected to go up by 9-cents a litre. Illuminating paraffin is set to decrease slightly by 3-cents a litre.

The association says despite the lower Brent crude price, the weaker Rand to US Dollar exchange rate is contributing most to the expected increases in fuel.

The outlook is likely to change before the official announcement of the February fuel price adjustments by the Department of Resources and Energy closer to month-end.
