JOHANNESBURG - Former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste may be on trial in Germany in 2023.
That is according to a statement from a court in Germany.
The proceedings against the accused - one of whom is believed to be Jooste - is centered on Steinhoff.
The statement does not name Jooste, but it does refer to a former CEO of Steinhoff International holdings, who it says is 61 years old.
The statement also says the accused was a CEO in South Africa until the end of 2017.
The court says the trial was initially one case, involving four accused.
However, it has since been split into two, each of which involves two accused.
