Employment Equity Amendment Bill | Controversy over proposed BEE targets

JOHANNESBURG - Business groups and political organisations are gearing up to oppose the Employment Equity Amendment Bill.

The draft regulations set race targets for each province, which companies must meet within five years.

This applies to all businesses with more than 50 employees.

Union Solidarity says it is not possible to meet the targets without thousands of coloured, white and Indian employees losing their jobs.
