Discussion | Crop insurance critical to safeguarding SA's food security

POLOKWANE - The agriculture sector is necessary for economic growth as well as well as our food security.

According to the latest Santam Insurance Barometer report, the industry contributes around 400 billion rand to the GDP each year and also supports about 870-thousand jobs.

Unfortunately our domestic agriculture sector is more exposed to the systemic risk of climate change than any other sector.
