JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has successfully connected Unit 2 of the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station to the national grid, adding 930 megawatts to South Africa’s power supply.
After some serious 'powering up' through upgrades, this is a major 'shock' to the system in the best way possible.
The update is intended to help reduce power cuts and lighten the load on the grid.
With over nine months of load-shedding-free power, and now even more capacity in the grid, eNCA spoke with the Black Business Council about whether stable electricity supply will really improve things for the country?
Could this bring a current of investment back?
And will it help spark growth in mining, production, and the economy as a whole?
Kganki Matabane from the Black Business Council discussed this with eNCA in the video above.
